애플페이 도입 공식화, 앞으로 넘어야 할 산은

애플과 현대카드가 애플의 간편결제 시스템인 애플페이의 국내 출시를 발표했다. 이로써 아이폰 유저들도 무지갑 결제가 가능해질 예정이다.

규제 해결하며 결국 최종 승인

애플페이 국내 도입은 출시가 계속 늦어지면서 소문만 무성한 상태였다. 그 이유는 금융당국의 규제때문이다. 애플페이를 이용하기 위해서는 가맹점에 NFC 단말기가 있어야하지만 이는 전체 가맹점중 10%에 불과해 도입이 늦어진 것. 이 때문에 현대카드는 대형 가맹점 위주로 단말기를 무상공급하는 방안을 펼쳤지만 이번에는 여신전문금융업법 규제가 발목을 잡았다. 결국 현대카드는 독점계약을 포기하고 최종 승인을 얻게 됐다.

출시 후 흥행은?

업계는 내달 출시를 예상하고 있다. 하지만 넘어야할 산도 있다. 단말기 보급이 충분히 이뤄지지 않을 경우 대형 가맹점 위주로만 결제가 이뤄질 것이라는 지적이 나오고 있으며 그렇게 될 경우 소비자들에게 매력적인 결제 시스템이 되지 못할 것이라는 우려가 제기되고 있다. 또한 현대카드를 제외한 타 카드사와의 협상, 결제 수수료 등의 문제도 앞두고 있다.
