대체식품 급성장 중, 업계와 소비자의 생각은

식물성 원료를 가공하거나 세포 배양을 통해서 동물성 원료에서 얻을 수 있는 단백질을 포함한 식품을 대체 식품이라고 한다. 건강과 환경을 중시하며 가치소비를 즐기는 MZ세대들 사이에서 주목받으며 그 시장규모가 계속해서 성장하고 있다.

271억원 규모 국내 대체식품 시장

대체식품 기술이 좋아지면서 맛과 식감까지 기존 동물성 제품과 유사해지자 대체식품이 새로운 트렌드로 급부상하고 있다. 국내 시장은 해외보다 조금 더딘 수준이지만 국내에서도 투자금이 빠르게 몰리며 기대를 모으고 있는 상태다. 국내 식물성 대체육 시장 규모는 2016년 169억원에서 2020년 209억원까지 성장했으며 2025년에는 271억원으로 성장할 것으로 추사된다.

채식주의 늘어나고 환경 생각하는 가치소비에 관심

국내는 대체유 시장이 훨씬 더 크다. 지난해에만 6,269억원에 달했다고한다. 유당불내증으로 기존 우유를 마시기 어려운 사람들을 위해 귀리 등 식물성 재료로 만들어진 우유 등이 대표적이다. CU는 대체 계란으로 만든 채식주의 간편식을 내놓기도 했다. 우리나라 채식 인구가 꾸준히 늘어나는 추세이기 때문이다. 또한 MZ세대들은 환경을 생각해 대안육 음식문화에 대해 긍정적으로 생각하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.
