국내에서도 ‘아마존고’같은 완전 무인매장을 확장하는 움직임이 나타나고 있다. 무인매장은 인공지능 기술과 센서 등을 활용해 별도의 결제 절차 없이 자동으로 계산이 완료되는 매장을 의미한다.
높은 초기비용에도 도입하는 이유는
편의점 GS25는 최근 서울 가산디지털단지에 완전 개방형 무인점포를 열고 운영에 나섰다. 매장 입구 게이트에 QR코드를 스캔하거나 신용카드를 투입하고 입장한 뒤 원하는 물건을 가지고 나오면 계산이 자동으로 완료되는 시스템이다. 완전 무인매장인 이 곳은 60대의 인공지능 카메라 CCTV가 설치되어있다. 또한 매대는 무게 감지 센서가 부착되어있어 상품의 이동 정보는 실시간으로 수집한다. 또 판매시전관리시스템(POS)이 카메라와 센서의 정보를 통합 분석한다. 손님이 매장밖으로 벗어나면 수집한 정보를 바탕으로 인공지능이 자동 결제를 하는 식이다. 이 같은 매장은 2021년 여의도 더현대를 시작으로 이마트24도 시도한 바 있다. 완전 무인매장은 초기 투자 비용이 높지만 업계는 이를 도입하는 데에 박차를 가하고 있다. 그 배경에는 급상승 중인 인건비의 요인이 큰 것으로 업계는 보고 있다.
