거지방이라는 이름으로 카카오톡 오픈채팅방이 우후죽순 생겨나고 있다. 벌써 수백여 개의 오픈채팅방이 운영되고 있는 거지방은 무엇일까.
절약이라는 목표로
거지방이란 지출을 줄이자는 공동된 목표로 모인 사람들의 오픈채팅방을 의미한다. 소비 내역을 실시간으로 공유하는 이들은 절약을 위해 다양한 규칙을 세우기도 한다. 지출 전 구성원들의 허락을 받거나 닉네임 옆에 누적 지출 금액을 적도록 하기도한다. 유료 이모티콘을 사용하면 안된다는 규칙도 있다. 가치있다고 판단되는 소비에 대해서는 관대하다. 반려동물이나 부모님 용돈같은 것들이다.
절약도 재밌게
거지방이 인기를 끌게 된 이유는 절약을 재치있게 대화 소재로 활용하기 때문이다. 아메리카노를 먹고 싶다는 말에 호통을 치기도 하고 그리 멀지 않은 거리는 튼튼한 두 다리를 믿으라며 걸어갈 것을 제안하기도 한다. 거지방의 시작은 물가상승과 경기침체로 인해 MZ세대 사이에서 짠테크가 유행하면서 부터다. 무지출 챌린지나 광고형 앱 등이 대표적이다.
